Worderlands will be holding its next week-long challenge starting on 22 June - and this time, things will be a little different.

Instead of aiming for a word goal or working on a specific project, the challenge will be to write a 3-sentence story every day based on a provided prompt.

This will hopefully be a good way to spark some inspiration, get everyone focussing on the construction of every sentence, the way words work together, the impact that you can have using only a few words. So, when you go back to writing your other project/s, hopefully it will be with a refreshed perspective and renewed creativity to draw from.

Of course, if you like what the stories you write bring out, you'll be welcome (and very much encouraged) to continue the stories in a longer form - or add them into another WIP if they fit.

Look out for the first prompt on 22 June! :)

Hi all,

How've you been going the last few weeks/months?

I'm thinking about running another challenge on here soon - maybe towards the end of June. It will likely be another week-long event. Who's in?

And I was also wondering... Would anyone be interested in a book club where we focus on writing craft-related books (with the possibility of other books in the future)?

Let me know what you think! :)

Thanks to everyone who participated in our first 700 to 7k challenge! I hope you got something great out of it, whether you wrote more words or just enjoyed the posts and questions. :)

♦ How did you go with everything?

♦ Do you have any feedback on the challenge?

♦ What did you think of the daily posts - the questions and tasks? Too much, too little, just right?

I'd love to know what you think. Like with the feedback from the November 2024 challenge, feedback may be incorporated into future challenges.

On that note, I'm already thinking about what might be next for Worderlands...

Don't worry - there's no event to rush to get ready for just yet. But there might be another 700 to 7k (or some similar variation) in a few months. I'm also playing with a few other ideas, but I'll leave that for another post another time.

Happy writing!

♦ What do you hope to achieve with your writing? Your writing aspirations, etc?

♦ Share something that you feel represents you as a writer

Welcome to day 6 of 700 to 7k. XD

♦ What's something that you've done to take care of yourself during this challenge?

♦ What inspires the chaos and conflict (the plot) in your novels?

♦ Share a moment of action or with high stakes from your story

Welcome to the first day of Worderlands' 700 to 7k challenge!

We'll be doing the same thing as November 2024 - daily check-ins - as everyone aims to write either 100 words or 1k words a day for the next 7 days.

Feel free to join in for as much or as little as you'd like. :)

♦ Which daily goal are you working towards?

♦ Why do you write?

♦ Share a bit about your project

Soon...

A quick reminder that we'll be having a week-long writing event starting soon!

If anyone would like to contribute check-in questions for the challenge, please leave them on this post. I'll screen comments. :)

And otherwise, maybe start thinking about what you'd like to work on in the coming week.

Hi all!

How are you? How's your writing going?

I'm thinking we do a week-long challenge in March (likely in the second half), where we all aim for either 700 words (100 words a day) or 7,000 words (1,000 words a day).

A bonus side challenge: writing a complete short story, start to finish, in that same timeframe.

Would anyone be interested in this? :)

Hi all. How'd you find the daily(ish) check-ins in November?

And what would you like to see at this community moving forward?

I've had a few life obstacles that have been keeping me busy in the background (and even away from here for a few days), but I hope to spend more time building things up in the coming months. It just may not be in the form of a daily check in, unless this is something people would find useful?

Final day of the month!

Did you achieve any goals that you set for yourself? Are you happy with where your story is at?

How did it all go for you?

Getting closer to the end... of the month.

How's your story going? Are you nearing the end of it too?

A huge thanks to [personal profile] vriddy for jumping in with the last check-in post. I had a sudden relocation to a place about two hours away from where I was living, so things have been chaotic the past few days.

Today... the 28th.

What's a big move that your character has made? Or if they haven't done anything like that, what is something your character has had to give up and leave behind them?

Belated check-in! How is everyone doing, how are the words flowing? What are you working on this week?

Oops, a bit late with this one (in my timezone anyway!)

Do you follow any particular story structure/s in your stories? Any recs for sources on the same (books, etc)?
