Moving into the future

Hi all. How'd you find the daily(ish) check-ins in November? 

And what would you like to see at this community moving forward?

I've had a few life obstacles that have been keeping me busy in the background (and even away from here for a few days), but I hope to spend more time building things up in the coming months. It just may not be in the form of a daily check in, unless this is something people would find useful?

I appreciated them in my inbox, though haven't been responding myself because I didn't actually get much writing done the past week. I'll need to lock in if I want to finish a few pieces in time for a prompt challenge's deadline, so I might tune in more throughout December (provided my own life obstacles aren't my slightly-hyperbolic undoing).

As for things I'd like to see here, I suppose I'd appreciate longer-term/more specific discussion prompts—can't really think of anything 'unaccounted for' other than that, though...

What kind of discussion prompts do you like?

More 'meta' stuff, mostly—along the lines of "What inspires you(r work)?", or "What do you most look forward to from your writing?"; that aside, activity-based prompts like "Quote your WIP out of context" and such would be fun, methinks.

I've decided that since it's a shorter timeframe for this challenge, I'll have a daily question and a daily "share" task. Both optional, but hopefully they'll spark some creativity and such. Instead of winging it like the November challenge, I have prepared this time!

Except for a name, which I am still deciding on. Tentatively, "700 to 7k" (since that's the word goal) or just something bland but to the point like "March 2025 challenge"... *ponders*

I think the occasional challenge with daily check-in is nice, but every day feels (to me) like a lot, and there are already comms like writethisfanfic that do year-long daily check-ins. Maybe it would be fun to experiment with different periods, e.g. a challenge for a week or two to stretch ourselves, or finish an old WIP, or things like that.

Maybe weekly check-ins (since not everyone's able to write daily) for a challenge, or the occasional weekend challenge/"retreat" could be fun?

Whatever works for folks, though! :)

I love the sound of occasional challenges like that, little things spread out throughout the year so it's not too much.

From an admin POV, the daily check-ins are a lot to remember just for posting them, even, but occasional things would be a lot easier to manage.

I'm going to think on this some more, maybe drop some ideas in a post later to see what everyone would be interested in. :)
