3-sentence stories: Day 1

Welcome to Worderlands' latest challenge: 3-sentence stories.

For this month’s challenge, things are going to be a little different. Instead of word count goals and providing you with a question or three each day, I’ll be providing a prompt word.

The challenge: Write a three-sentence story that involves the prompt and share it in the comments! The prompt doesn’t have to be used with the precise wording - just make sure it’s clear the prompt has inspired the piece.

There's no deadline on these stories, though sooner is better if you'd like others involved in the event to read and comment.

Day 1: Painting the sky

Luigi loved his brother—he truly, deeply did—but that didn’t stop Mario from driving him up the wall sometimes, not one bit. Even if the celebratory fireworks lighting up the sky were very pretty, that didn’t stop Luigi from shaking Mario like a maraca and yelling at him for just running off like that, what was he thinking going after Princess Peach, was he hurt, what if something had happened—

And Mario just gave him that apologetic smile, and Luigi knew that it wasn’t going to be the last time he did something reckless like that again.
