Valentine's Day event
Feb. 14th, 2026 10:25 amHi all. It's Valentine's Day here (which also happens to be my birthday, just sayin').
There was some interest in an event on the Discord, so here's one I've been thinking about for a while now but am 100% winging it with when it comes to actually putting this together (which is pretty on brand for Worderlands events tbqh).
I hope you have fun with it and have a good heart day! ♥
---
This event is going to involve elements of a co-op quest or collaborative story. Also a little choose your own adventure because you can choose one of two paths (or walk both paths!):
1) Leave a new comment on the theme of "love" or "cake" or "amethyst" with a short story (roughly 300 words or under; if your story is three sentences that is fine too!)
2) Respond to an existing comment aaand continue the story within it or write some fanfic based on the other person's story.
I'm curious what you'll come up with! Happy writing.

Well. It was now or never.
No More Hearts

The cake was shaped like a heart, because of course it was. She hated having her birthday on Valentine's Day, because that's all she ever received: hearts. So many hearts.
There were heart-shaped cakes and heart-shaped cards. There were little cupcakes with hearts on them, and there were boxes of chocolates with the individual pieces of chocolate encased in delicate paper or foil like little heart-shaped packages. And then there were plushies - often teddy bears holding hearts, or with a patch on their chest that was heart-shaped.
Sometimes there were flowers, roses mostly, with a heart pattern on the plastic that held the arrangement together.
Hearts everywhere. Everywhere.
And she was over it. Absolutely beyond over it and done.
But no matter what she said or did, no matter how many times she asked for something else, something that wasn't related to hearts, no one seemed to ever remember when the next birthday came around.
And then there'd be hearts, all over again. More hearts.
Hearts forevermore.
It was in her thirty second year that she finally snapped. And she decided to embrace the heart theme. Fully. And as intensely as she possibly could.
It was the evening of Valentine's Day when her housemate returned home to find her family thrust around the living room, bleeding from the holes in their chests.
In the middle of the kitchen floor, she sat with her legs splayed out around her, knees bent in an almost heart shape. A pile of crimson hearts were laid out before her in a heart shape, her hands and arms bloodied and still dripping red to the once pristine white tiles.
'No more hearts,' she muttered.
Her housemate, who'd been caught in the doorway, backed away and shut the door with a resounding click.
'No more hearts.'
